Archive Articles Page Five

The following pages include articles that have been displayed on the main articles page but have now passed into these archive pages. This allows for an audit trail of what has been done within the Homes and the topics discussed. Don't forget that you can bring any of these topics back to the main page by raising them as a topic for discussion using the articles mains page feedback tool. Alternatively, you can discuss any concerns/views with any of the Homes' Managers or the Directors' of the Company.

Work in the Homes.  Viewpark's new call bell system is proving to be more efficient and resident friendly although we have had some teething problems. However, the maintenance contract for the system has ensured we spent the minimum time with the system being down.
The new laundry upgrade has now been in use for some time and has proved to be a big success and with the Abercorn Nursing Home’s laundry facility being so much more accessible since the rear gardens makeover, and the addition of the joining ramp between the Homes, it unlikely that we should again experience problems with getting the weeks washing done. Russell has completed the decorating of the Hall and the sitting rooms with the colour scheme and wallpaper being the majority choice of residents and staff.

Spring Gardens has seen the new boilers and control systems installed and commissioned. This together with the secondary double glazing to the front of the Home should ensure we are all snug and warm this coming winter. The new call bell system is also proving to be efficient and effective. The new laundry upgrade has proved to be a big hit with Shelia, Madge, Marion and Vicky, the domestic staff, and has effectively reduced the problems of carrying the laundry down into the basement area. The new staff area has also been welcomed as the feedback has been very positive from all concerned.

Abercorn Nursing Home has undergone redecoration of both sitting rooms and the dining room. The planned new carpets have started to be laid and it is expected that they will be completed by Mid September 2010. The Hall and Stairs decoration has been started by Russell and again is expected to be completed by Mid September 2010. Russell has now started to decorate the upper hall. We would take this opportunity to apologise to all our residents and their families for any inconvenience caused by the work. However, from the feedback thus far it would appear that you are all satisfied with your choice of paper and color scheme. The upstairs bathroom has recently been converted into a wet shower room thereby making morning ablution much easier and dignified for our residents and staff and the feedback has been very positive from all involved

Care Commission Inspections.  All three Homes have now had their announced inspection for 2010 completed and we await the Care Commission publishing the results on their web site. However, we are delighted to report that all the Homes received grading scores of six (Excellent) across the board for all the areas inspected by the CCO. Our thanks to everyone, staff, resindents and families for their contribution within the assessment process.
