Work in the Homes. The work within Viewpark kitchen has been completed together with the alteration to other area within the Home to improve storage facilities for dry good and freezers as well as creating a ‘Nurses’ Station’ downstairs that will allow for staff to have easier access to care plans, the computer and also to afford a more secure, easy assessable area for medication storage. – posted 20 Aug 09
Kerryann gets Married. The management and staff of Abercorn Care Limited are delighted to extend their congratulations and best wishes to one of its own, Kerryann Kidd from Abercorn Nursing Home, who celebrated her marriage to Mr Scott Fraser on Saturday 15th August. Together with our residents we wish them a long and happy life together.
Resident’s Outing. Some of the Abercorn Nursing Home residents and staff enjoyed a short trip to visit North Berwick on 28th July, which included lunch out at the seaside resort. The weather on the day was fine and helped to make for an enjoyable day away. They are all now eagerly looking forward to the planned barge trip on the 24th September.
Spring Gardens Short Listed for NAPA Competition. The recent NAPA competition, a ‘Breath of Fresh Air’, which looked at activities within care homes over a given week and was used to encourage the participation of residents and staff and to, as the title suggested, get residents out of the home or try new things, has now announced its short list of entries from across the United Kingdom. The activities created a fantastic response from all the homes within Abercorn Care Limited with the enthusiasm from the residents themselves being wonderful. The competitive edge between the staff in the homes also made for an exciting time and this being our first foray into any form of competition I was delighted, as the Managing Director, by what has been achieved and would wish to commended all my staff for their involvement and enthusiasm.
Abercorn Care Limited are therefore delighted that, whilst not making the finalist list of five homes, its Spring Gardens Care Home made the prestigious short list of 25 and was one of only three homes within Scotland to have been selected and the only one in Edinburgh. Congratulations to Charlie Fraser our Manager, all our residents and staff for their participation and a special thanks to Iain McGregor, our Deputy Manager at Spring Gardens, for his energy and effort in leading the ‘Breath of Fresh Air’ programme within the Home and together with Giulia Albertini, our activities coordinator, for their enthusiasm involving not just the residents but the staff from across the Company.
