Articles & Resident, Family Feedback Page
The following pages include articles that have been displayed on the main articles page but have now passed into these archive pages. This allows for an audit trail of what has been done within the Homes and the topics discussed. Don't forget that you can bring any of these topics back to the main page by raising them as a topic for discussion using the articles mains page feedback tool. Alternatively, you can discuss any concerns/views with any of the Homes' Managers or the Directors' of the Company.
Care Plan Reviews Residents and Families should all now be aware that their involvement in Care Plan reviews is seen as an essential part of the participation strategy. These reviews are carried out on a six monthly basis or whenever a significant change to the care plan is required. If you require further information or explanation please speak with the respective home's Manager.
Mental Welfare Commission for Scotland Abercorn Nursing Home has just had its unannounced inspection by the Care Commission in conjunction with the Mental Welfare Commission. The inspection was excellent with both Commissions complimenting the home on its care planning, medication management and quality of environment. Well done to Jan and all the staff,
Crawford Ferguson’s Memorial Service It was with deep sadness that residents and staff from Spring Gardens heard about the untimely death of one of their own. Crawford had worked at Spring Gardens for several years but died suddenly on 28 February 2009. From all the Residents and Staff at Spring Gardens we wish Willie, Crawford’s brother all our love and thoughts as Crawford will be sorely missed. He was a great fan of Rangers and delighted in telling everyone about their latest exploits, be it in SPL or Cup Action.
Crawford assisted in the kitchen at Spring Gardens and was a man that everyone had time for. He always had a smile and words to say and his departure has left a whole in so many lives. Betty Scott, Care Assistant, attended Crawford’s Memorial Service on the 5th May 2009 at St Peter’s Church in Musselburgh accompanied by Harry Edwards, Resident from Spring Gardens.
We miss you Crawford. Love from all the Residents and Staff at Spring Gardens.
Dementia Training. Three Abercorn Care Limited RGN's have now completed the 'Dementia Training Facilitator's Course' at Stirling University's Dementia Service Development Centre. They will now role out training in this specialised area of care to selected members of our care staff with a view to having some 48 staff being trained within the next two years. - Posted 4 April 09
Work in the Homes. Those families and residents from Viewpark and the Abercorn will have seen the extensive work being undertaken within the gardens to try and make them more attractive and manageable. The full effect will not become visible until the planting has been completed and some sunshine is also a factor. – Posted 20 April 09
Work within Viewpark kitchen is planned to start within the next two weeks. The intent is to combine this with alteration to other area within the Home to improve storage facilities for dry good and freezers as well as creating a ‘Nurses’ Station’ downstairs that will allow for staff to have easier access to care plans, the computer and also to afford a more secure, easy assessable area for medication storage. It is hoped that disruption to service users and carers is kept to a minimum and that the Abercorn Nursing Home’s kitchen will be used to ensure there is continuity for hot food preparation and delivery. – posted 20 April 09
